It's been said that sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make. Today was the case for the LA Kings. Lombardi was unwilling to pony up the four or five players it took to get Kovalchuk from Atlanta.
Good. You can argue all day long about the greatness of Kovi and how many goals he scores. Yet, the fact remains, that was WAY too steep of a price for a rental. Let Dean tweak things at the margins this season.
The LA Kings aren't just fine. They'll be more than fine for NOT doing the deal with Atlanta.
