Forget Schenn, Could Toffoli be Joining Kings Soon?

Truth be told, you can't forget about Brayden Schenn - he's omnipresent.

Prior to the WHL Playoffs staring this past weekend, Schenn stopped by MayorsManor and shared his biggest fear heading into his opening round series with the Price Albert Raiders. Forget the fact that the Saskatoon Blades finished the regular season as the best team in the 'Dub. He was concerned with the Raiders barn - saying "when it's small and it's not a very big rink size, that could be a scary part."

Adding fuel to his worries, the Blades lost last night - game three of the series, but the first in Price Albert's tiny building.

With the recent injuries to Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams, Kings fans everywhere have began asking about the possibility of Schenn's return to LA.  However, as reported, he (basically) can't come back until the Blades are eliminated from the playoffs.

It remains to be seen exactly when that will be. Game four of that series is later tonight. [updated at the end of this article]

But, but, but...

Forget about Schenn for now. What about Tyler Toffoli of the Ottawa 67's?

LA's second round draft pick from last June had an outstanding season in junior hockey, netting more than 50 goals and winning the OHL scoring title.

He also stopped by MayorsManor last week to preview the playoffs.

And his compliments towards the lower seeded Sudbury Wolves - calling them "a hard working team" with "a lot of skill" and somebody the 67's needed to be "disciplined" against - have proven true.

Entering tonight, the 67's trailed 0-3 in the series.

They entered the third period with a 3-2 lead...and lost - swept out of the first round.

Now what happens?

[Update from the 'Dub - Schenn's Blades lost game four by a final score of 5-2.  The series is now tied 2-2 and heads back to Saskatoon for game five on Saturday night.  Things just became VERY interesting.  Also, fellow Kings prospect Linden Vey - the 2011 WHL scoring champion - and his Medicine Hat Tigers won their game, tying their series up 2-2 as well.]

  1. If they do call up Toffoli, does it cause any problems where he can play next year? There's so many wierd rules out there. Just wondering.

  2. Given that his junior season is over, it shouldn't be a problem. But, yes, there seems to be 5,000 different rule exceptions. Awaiting final confirmation.
