POLL: LA Kings Player of the Month for March 2011

It's that time of the month again...

After climbing back into the Western Conference playoff race with a record of 8-2-3 (19 points) in February, the Kings followed that up with a 9-3-2 record in March and the 20 points were their high water mark for the season.

Last month, Drew Doughty was the Player of the Month, just barely beating out Anze Kopitar. This time around, he's not even a real contender - with only one goal and four assists. However, another defenseman made a strong case for himself, as did one of the Kings rookies.

In alphabetical order, here are the leading candidates for the March Player of the Month...

Jonathan Bernier - posted a 4-0-1 record for the month...had two shutouts and only one game where he gave up more than two goals...what more can you ask from a guy who rarely knows when he'll play his next game?

Dustin Brown - led the team with six goals, added four assists and was a minus-4 while averaging around 20 minutes per game

Anze Kopitar - his five goals were second most on the team (however, three of the five came via a hat trick against Columbus), added six assists (giving him a team-high 11 points) and was a plus-3 while averaging around 22 minutes per game

Willie Mitchell - had THREE goals in the month of March...was a plus player, while averaging 22 minutes per game...after voicing his displeasure with team's focus in New York, he stepped up like a true veteran

Jonathan Quick - another solid month from the two-time POM winner...he finished the month 5-3-1 and in three of those games he only gave up one goal...also only gave up two power play goals the entire month

Honorable mention - Jarret Stoll (two goals, one assist and Mr. Perfection in the shootout), Justin Williams (two goals, six assists, plus-2), Michal Handzus (two goals, two assists, two GWG), Dustin Penner (two goals, four assists and plenty of PennerMania)
