Coaches and players love to tell you these are the biggest points of the season - even though two points in March count the same as two points in October.
Regardless, as Matt Greene said before the Kings current four-game road trip started, "We need points. There's no real formula for what we're doing right now. I think every team needs them. We just have to go out and get wins."
And that they're doing. Sunday's 3-2 win in Dallas was the team's third in a row on this trip and they're now 10-1-3 in their last 14 games away from Staples Center.
Five points to the game:
* Jonathan Quick was strong in net most of the game, stopping 21 of 23 shots and ran his record in Dallas to an impressive 5-1. More importantly, the win gave him a little piece of history, as he became the first Kings goalie to ever post back-to-back 30 win seasons. (pre-game story here)
* Dustin Brown made a little history himself, becoming the 18th player to play 500 games as a King.
* Dustin Penner had the second goal of the game, giving him a five game point streak (2g, 3a).
* Dallas pulled the goalie in the final minute of play, trailing 2-1. Although that hasn't worked all season for the Kings, it worked for the Stars when Jamie Langenbrunner tied the game at 19:17.
* Alexei Ponikarovsky has probably played his best hockey as a King over the last five to ten games and he chipped in again in a big way here, setting up Michael Handzus' game winning goal with 21 seconds left.
