The next Frolov sits at #20

The Kings are getting ready to throw a party like Los Angeles and the NHL has never seen before. And no, I'm not talking about the playoffs. The NHL Entry Draft heads to SoCal for the first time ever this June. While this event is usually reserved almost exclusively for northeastern cities, the Kings staff convinced the NHL brass it was time to come west.

Earlier today the NHL's Central Scouting Bureau published its latest player rankings...with an interesting twist. They've now given us their comparisons to current and former stars.

Get to know some of the names on this list. Many of these teenagers will have their name called in the first round of the draft. Some will go on to be the league leaders of seasons to come...say, in around five years or so.

In a different NHL.com article from a few days ago they asked five experts to project the first round by team.  Said experts had the Kings selecting the likes of Bertuzzi (Howden), Frolov (Galiev) or Draper (Watson).  Click here for that article.

Would Kings fans even know what to do with themselves if the team drafted "another" Frolov?

  1. The first thing we have to do is figure out what to do with what we have. Trade rumors swirl around like stray winds of change. Performance issues stare us in the face like an ugly monster.

It's not so much the talent you have....it's the "heart" that that talent brings to the ice each night. Case in point.....the Phoenix Coyotes this season. All of those I spoke with before this season said they'd go no where. What did they do? They brought heart to the ice and showed everyone....especially all of Phoenix....that they have ability and heart.

What a strange view in professional hockey.....looking up in the standings and seeing a large fish and a desert dog....with their rear ends pointed squarely at us.

  2. Prosecutors dropped a DUI charge against Chris Chelios, but a judge convicted the former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman of improper lane usage and speeding.
Chelios, who was arrested in late December in Westmont, Ill., was sentenced Wednesday to six months of conditional discharge. He also received a $500 fine.
"I want to put this behind me and learn from it," Chelios said Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune.
