Movember pics of the LA Kings - featuring Doughty, Penner

According to Movember.com, Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer.

Various reports claim the phenomenon started in Australia back in 1999.  Since then, there have been more than 1.1 million registered participants involved and they've raised over $176 million...so far.

Athletes, celebrities and everyday 'Mo Bros' (as they're referred to) have become involved.

Hockey player by night, twitter maniac by day, Paul Bissonnette of the Phoenix Coyotes, had the idea right earlier this week when he asked if you need to go clean-shaven to start the month.

Yes, is the answer. The idea is to shave your upper lip on Shadoween (October 31st), like George Parros did here. For the next 30 days, you start to grow dusters like these...

Is that Sgt Slaughter or Dustin Penner?

Even Kings' goaltending prospect, JF Berube, is getting involved. You can track his progress via twitter, where he posted his first pic the other night.

I should have some exclusive pics from Manchester tomorrow afternoon too - several of the guys there are on board with Movember this year and we'll have the images to prove it.

As for the rest of the Kings, according to Doughty, quite a few of his teammates will be joining him in growing a 'stache this month - including Willie Mitchell, Mike Richards and Kyle Clifford.

Wait, Clifford, I asked?

"Well, he's trying," said Doughty.
