Quotes from Anaheim Ducks locker room after 2-1 LA win

There's no denying the Anaheim Ducks offense has been struggling.

Entering tonight's game with the Kings, they had averaged only 2.0 goals per game and 20 of their 34 goals had been scored by just four players (Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Bobby Ryan and Teemu Selanne).

After the Kings defeated the Ducks 2-1 in the shootout at Staples Center, here's some thoughts from the Anaheim dressing room...

COACH RANDY CARLYLE:

On the overall game - "The power play advantage was six to one at one point in the hockey game and usually when that happens you are going to be on the receiving end of the shot clock. We didn’t really get our game going until the last half of the hockey game, then we played a lot more of the type of game that’s going to be required."

On leaving town with one point - "We got a point and we worked hard. It’s one shot away in a shootout to be a difference maker and right now those things aren’t going our way. But if we work as hard as we did in this hockey game, in the last half of it specifically, then there is a light at the end of the tunnel for our group."

FORWARD BOBBY RYAN:

On the overall game - "It’s tough to lose a point in that kind of fashion but I thought the boys played a hard game. We had so many chances there and Quickie [Jonathan Quick] kept standing on his head and really sucking pucks in, not allowing any kind of rebounds in and chances for us all game."

On tuning out frustrations - "I think you have to celebrate the little victories. I felt we did a good job taking pucks to the net, especially in the third we really turned our game on and got going in the right direction. We moved pucks to the net and we moved bodies to the net a lot better. We were rewarded for it with I don’t know if you want to call it a flukey goal, but a goal that probably is going to be saved most of the time."

Last summer, Ryan came on MayorsManor (linked here) and talked about his friendship with several Kings players - as well as the infamous Drew Doughty hit.

Earlier today, we looked at the Kings-Ducks series in an article linked here.

Finally, after the game tonight, LA coach Terry Murray talked about the win, Justin Williams taking a penalty and the play of Slava Voynov here.
