The good, the bad and the something - with Matt Greene

The last few days have been a mix of the good, the bad and the ugly for the LA Kings. After a disappointing loss to the Stars on Thursday - a game the Kings were leading with less than six minutes to go in regulation - they bounced back with a big win in Calgary last night. The 'Dome hasn't been good to them in recent years, with only one win there in 11 prior games.

Just before leaving for Alberta, Kings coach Darryl Sutter asked - 'What is history?' Guess he was right.

Let's check in with defenseman Matt Greene...

THE GOOD

Last night, Greene scored his third goal of the season and it stood up as the game winner. It also helped him set two new career highs at once. He's never scored more than two goals in a season before, nor had he posted more than one GWG over a full campaign.

THE BAD

Reflecting on the loss to the Stars, Greene shared the following quotes - "Hard game, division game. It's what the guys expected and that's what happened...We weren't ready. That's unacceptable. We have to be better and we have to be better from the start. We spotted them two goals, that's unacceptable in our building - coming off some rest too...(Jack Johnson) is playing great. He's getting the puck through. He's making good plays and giving us everything we need."

THE SOMETHING

After practice the other day, Greene and I were talking about Mike Richards recent tweets on 'Meta World Peace' (aka Ron Artest) from the Laker game. When asked what he would change his name to, Greene first responded with "Not Meta World Peace (and he laughed quite a bit). That's already taken, now I have to go to 1A... It's tough to come up with another one though. I had my heart set on Meta World Peace. I've been crushed ever since."

Then, as Greene is known to do, he turned it back around on me - "What's yours?" he asked. Complicating matters, Greene wanted no part of me using 'The Mayor' either - saying, "You can't go with the obvious. That's like me saying I'd change my name to Greener or something."

Great, now I need to think of a new name too.
